Sweets and Spirits Soiree
Second City Style’s Alyssa Buishas gives us the female fashionista lowdown from the SOREL fall 2011 release bash.
I recently had the opportunity to attend the fabulous SOREL fall/winter preview soirée, and I can safely say that fall/winter 2011/2012 with SOREL is going to be cozy and cool. I’m so excited about the new products, and it was such a treat to have the opportunity to preview the new boots. The party was held at SOREL’s own showroom here in NYC. We all had a blast with yummy drinks, an awesome DJ and the enthusiastic live models. Each of the glamorous models looked great, all perfectly styled in their new SOREL boots and standing on pedestals behind their own hanging picture frames. How clever! Attendees were invited to play with all the 2011 SORELs, as well as loads of other fun props. We even had the chance to take our own cute photos on pedestals behind hanging photo frames just like the party’s live models! The colorful mood lighting created the perfect setting for the party and the photography. In all, we had a great time snapping pics of each other, previewing the boots, playing dress up, and meeting some of the amazing SOREL team.
The event got me really excited about the new line. I’ve followed the brand for some time, and lately have absolutely loved SOREL’s fresh, fashion-forward image. It’s wonderful to have a waterproof winter boot, which is practical and functional, but also has a cool, current shape. The new boots coming out in August are definitely something to look forward to. This will be SOREL’s second time doing the Tivoli Rain boot after its success in the spring, but this time they’re adding new luxe fall colors, sure to keep the boots a big hit even as we get into the chilly temperatures. The fall will see SOREL’s first line of wedge boots, which are great for a snowy day out, or just for running errands. These boots pack the trusty construction of a SOREL boot into a slimmer, more feminine form with a cool wedge heel.
My absolute favorite new color offerings are the plum with olive, the popping bright orange trims, and the wild pink and red florals. The chunky, lace-up snow boot with its feminine floral print is great, and would go nicely with a pair of skinny’s and some crazy-chunky knits under a ski puffer. Other favorite concepts for me were the Native American-inspired patterned exteriors, the cozy sweater-knit booty, and the tall boots covered in a wild shaggy faux fur. SOREL is doing a really great job of capturing current trends and gathering hot inspiration to vamp up their already trusty and classic product offerings. I’m completely obsessed with the new moccasin boot and its quilted details and fur trim. Other favorites and style features of the new line such as removable loafer-like fringed preppy details, and 80’s ski wear inspired elements, keep the collection fashion forward and on trend for the season. SOREL’s new collection is sure to be as big a hit as the preview party was!
