Behind the Scenes of
Spring / Summer 2013

added on February 15, 2013 in Inside SOREL by The SOREL Crew

SOREL is introducing a new women’s Spring/Summer collection, to be released this spring. We pulled design cues and inspiration from the rich boot history of our classic SOREL styles, and infused them into our new line.

We shot the line at the Venice Canals in Venice, California, and at the surrounding Abbot Kinney neighborhood. The settings provided the right warmth and vibrancy to emphasize the new line. It was a complete contrast to the cold weather environments we typically use.

We primarily picked our models based on their experience, natural comfort in front of a camera, and their good fit to with the SOREL consumer. We looked for those who could represent an approachable, fun-loving, yet independent persona.

Brendan Coughlin is one of the hottest up and coming photographers in the business. Not only does he possess a great eye for composition, lighting, and conceptualizing, but also, Brendan is brilliant at getting the most out of a model’s emotion, movement, and natural charisma.

Behind the Scenes of SOREL Spring/Summer 2013

There is a short summer boot trend that is taking place with women wearing their statement booties paired with shorts/skirt and bare legs. SOREL is taking a stand in this space by giving you the shortest boot you can find in the summer. This season, we have created four different collections that are lightweight and wearable for the warmer months:

SUMMER BOOT COLLECTION:

WINTER TO WEARABLE

Women's Yaquina™ Blanket Boot

Women's Ensenada™ Boot

The Summer Boot Collection is a natural evolution and continuation of the boot season. We have turned our winter boots into something more wearable for spring/summer. Our summer boots are playful, relaxed, real, natural, charismatic, and soft, all while maintaining a look that is core to SOREL.

THE LAKE COLLECTION:

EFFORTLESS STYLE

Women's Lake™ Wedge

Women's Lake™ Boot Peep Toe

This collection is inspired by remote lake cabin in the mountains, where lazy days are spent canoeing, sunning on the dock, picnics in grassy fields, and afternoon hikes. The Lake Wedge™ and Lake Boot™ Peep Toe are takedowns from some of our most popular boots: the Tivoli™ and our iconic Joan of Arctic™ Wedge.

RAIN COLLECTION:

FEARLESS

Women's Medina Rain Heel™ Boot

Women's Joplin™ Rain Boot

Named after a rainy Seattle town, the Medina™ Rain Heel is a bold alternative to the traditional bulky, rubber rain boot. It is ideal for someone who does not want to sacrifice style during the rainy season. SOREL is bringing energy to the rain boot category, and our unique rain boots are feminine, fun, sexy, and functional.

THE OUTING COLLECTION:

CAREFREE SPIRIT

Women's Picnic Lace™

Women's Tremblant™ Canvas Moc

This collection captures the carefree spirit of summers gone by. It is inspired the Plimsoll – a shoe originally developed in the early 1800’s as beachwear, and often referred to as the “sand shoe.”
